Album: Mondo Bizarro
Artist: Ramones
Released: 1992
The Penumiltimate proper Ramones album, the first with CJ who replaced Dee Dee Ramone. who left the band in 1989.
and my very first Ramones record..
Bought this sometime late 94 , i remember in The Old Gotesco Grand Central, choosing over Anthrax' "Attack.Of The Killer B's (which i bought also eventually) ..
The album is good, as i have instant favorites at first listening, "Poison Heart", "Censorshit", "The Job that ate my brain", "I Won't let it happen" "Anxiety", " It's gonna be alright" and a splendid cover of The Doors classic "Take it As It Comes"...
but shortly after listening to "RamonesMania" ... its just wasnt the same, well for one the songs are longer, The Aggressivesness and Spunkness was somehow missing,..
though Mondo Bizarro includes songs penned by Dee Dee, it was just different ...
CJ did an ok job handling some vocals , but Dee Dee was just a tough shoes to fill, DeeDee was just simply a driving force in The Ramones sound musically and visually ..
.. but then also i maybe looking it in a wrong perspective comparing the album to it's legacy
The album maybe not the Ramones best,
But still offer good songs.
i tend to view the album on its own merit,
Since the legacy of The Ramones is so towering to be taken into consideration..
Expectations and comparisons would always take away something , when we should be taking merit of the album alone..
Rating: 7.5 /10
