There are just some songs that are better had someone else sang it.. or a good song became better because of someone sang it better.
i had in my mind some songs that had been lingering in my mind. some songs that could been better , interestingly Cool had they sang it.
(Cover song Perspectve and What if ? - they sang it Perspective)
1. Sonic Youth - Superstar ( The Carpenters) Though they have covered this in 1994, i believe Had Kim Gordon sang it ,that could have given the song more character.
2. My Vitriol - My Immortal (Evanescence) - After they did a great version of Madonna and Martika's songs how can they not do it with this song? i can already imagine how Som Wordner would sound.
3. Nirvana - Debaser (The Pixies)-Since Pixies is one of their major influenece i hoped i had seen Kurt do a "Debaser" before his demise in 1994. this would be an impossible now, unless there's some recorded of Nirvana covering the song.
4. Fiona Apple - Nothing Compares 2 U (Sinead O' Connor) - After an incredible feat of conquering a diffenrent Song " Across The Universe", i would love her to do justice on this 1990 Sinead O'Connor Hit. Her Melancholic voice would definitely a perfect fit for the song
5. Joe Cocker - What a wonderful World ( Louise Armstrong) - i seen some songs uploaded on the Net ( Youtube) that attributed the song to Joe Cocker, with intereset and a little bit Skeptic, i did listen to it, Yeah only to find it was actually Louise Armstrong.
6. Paul McCartney (With Wings)- She's Not There (The Zombies) - i always loved this song, and when i was younger i used to thought McCartney has a version of this. with Wings i supposed.
7. Incubus - Elegantly Wasted ( INXS) - Surely Brandon Boyd isnt Michael Hutchence, but i would want to hear how would they work on this song
8. Sugar Hiccup - Carolyn's Finger ( Cocteau Twins)- I was hooked on that 5 Years song... and instantly it reminded me of Elizabeth Fraser
9. Rage Against the Machine - Gratitude ( The Beastie Boys) - Before RATM, there was The Beasties... i'm a big fan of both , it would be such a delight, to hear them covering Beasties
10. Maroon 5 - Space Cowboy ( Jamiroquai)- Well im not a big fan of Maroon 5 , but it's interesting how would they approach the song
11. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Call Me ( Rick James ) - More Funkier , More Groovier?
12. The Doors - Green eyed Lady (Sugarloaf)- This would be for Ray Manzarek more than for Jim Morrisson. i'm a bigger Manzarek fan than Morrisson's
13. The Clash - And She Was ( The Talking Heads)- Clashy Talking Heads Song, i just wonder what if this was a Clash Song
14. The Who - We Gotta Get out of this Place (The Animals) - Pete Townshead and company could have made a better ending..
15. Jamiroquai - Brick House ( The Commodores) - Yeah we all loved Jamiroquai's funky and Groovy tunes, What if he was a part of the Lionel Richie Led The Commodores?
16. Dream Theater - Yours is No disgrace (Yes) - This was supposed to be a Rush Song , but since i already found some DT cover of Rush Songs
another good cover would be Yes , and just now i found a couple of Yes Song Covered by Dream Theater.. oh well
17. David Bowie - Close To Me (The Cure ) or Better Than Heaven ( Bloc Party) - I wonder how would Ziggy Stardust fare on these 2 songs.. though it already sound Bowie-sh to me.
18. John Mayer - What Difference does it make ( The Smiths) - JM is one talented musician, just as how i was surprised to hear him Doing a Jimi Hendrix, i'm just curious on how would he fare on a Moz Classic , i wanna see myself in an "No f'***** way " in awe moment .
19. Lady Gaga - Strange Love ( Depeche Mode) - Just as how im entertained by Marilyn Manson, Lady Gaga would be another Clown/Musician, but undeniably the talent is evident as much as her gimmicks.. i just wonder how would Lady G. would take on my Favorite DM song.
20. Throw/ Dead Ends - MTV Get Off The Air / Too Drunk too f*** ( Dead Kennedys) - Yes, We have already heard Al Dimalanta sang " I dont wanna sound like Jello Biafra, I dont want to sound but they say i do - (from "Nothing i can do" - Second Coming Album)... But for Fans Perspective A Dead Ends/Throw Cover of A DK song is something to cheers about, or in a different perspective, would they really sound like Dead Kennedys??
21. Put3ska - Jungle ( Red Session) / Wagon Train Ska ( The Rhyt-O Matics) - If Put3ska is still in tow, i would certainly wanna hear them more of a Third wave Ska-ish - with some element on it (like Swing in this song)... The Groove would perfectly Fit Myra's flambouyant personality on stage.
Geez now i miss em. THE BEST LIVE BAND EVER on this planet.
22. Shuffle Union - A love Song ( Ego Wrappin') - No We are not Looking for another Myra. We would want another personality just like how Rhoda Dakkar co exist with Pauline Black . Mae is undeniably one great talent ,Shuffle Union was a promising Ska band, left in an uncertainty(?) we would want them back as much as we wanted to see more of MANILA SKA FEST
23. Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra - Sesame Street End Theme - Funky and Captivating Sound not only for young , but for young at heart ... No one i think can do justice on this song but the Pioneers TSPO.
24. Prodigy - Tommorow Never Knows ( The Beatles) - This Beatle Track was Futuristic already when it was released in 1966. But i wonder how further it can go, had Prodigy has to do it their way.
25.Mike Patton / Faith No More - Wild Flower ( Skylark)- Mike Patton has a very unique and great Voice. FNM's Version of a Lionel Richie Classic "Easy" proved .. he disd a pretty good job , that i felt the Song Wild Flower was atailor fit for him as well.
There are still some song that are bubbling under, but i guess long list will be freaking boring..
Would love to hear/see your list
